FuncBud is an AUv3 MIDI sequencer application that employs simple mathematical functions to generate intricate sequences. The app features a function builder that allows users to create and combine various math functions for the creation of complex musical patterns.

For instance, by using a straightforward function like x + 1, users can sequence notes in a scale sequentially. The true potential of FuncBud shines through when different formulas are utilized and linked together.

The workflow of the sequencer involves starting from the root note and progressively evaluating each formula to determine the subsequent note. In cases where a formula is set to repeat, it does so for a specified number of iterations before moving on to the next calculation. The resulting note adheres to the working key and scale, staying within pre-defined octaves. Moreover, each output is stored in a history log of up to 64 entries for future summations or products.

The function builder offers arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, along with functions like square, square root, sum, and product. Additionally, users can utilize parentheses to establish priority within calculations. These custom functions are saved in a library accessible across both the standalone version and AUv3 instances of the app.

Noteworthy features include conditional functions that enable users to dictate actions based on defined conditions and a random function generator that produces values between two specified functions.

FuncBud provides users with options to manipulate note selection within the designated key and scale range. Parameters like sequencer speed, gate length, velocity control, as well as swing adjustment, are conveniently accessible via sliders on the user interface.

The app supports editing functionalities like reordering or deleting functions with ease. Users can swiftly clear existing patterns or make subtle alterations with the use of the dedicated features.

Furthermore, the loop detection capability, found in the settings menu, automatically increments designated values to break potential loops within sequences.

It is essential to note that FuncBud primarily functions as a MIDI application. While the standalone version offers an optional internal synthesizer, users can toggle between these settings in the preferences menu. For AUv3 functionality, integration with audio apps such as AUM, Loopy Pro, and Cubasis among others is necessary for sound output.
